Panning with the middle button does nothing
Use space + drag with the left button instead (it does exactly the same job).
The utility that came with your mouse may be turning the middle button into some other job. When the wheel zooms but pressing it down does nothing, suspect that first.
The text is too small to read
Text here is at full size. Text of height 5 is supposed to look small when you view the whole drawing. Go closer and you can read it.
Its size on paper can also be tidied with the multiplier in the print preview.
Dashed lines look solid
The spacing does not suit the drawing. Type LTS 自動 (auto) → Enter.
I cannot select it, or delete it
The layer that object is on may be locked or hidden.
Open the layer panel with LA and check the padlock and the eye.
I changed the layer colour but the object did not change colour
That object carries a colour of its own. Select it and use SETBYLAYER = the tag is stripped off and it follows the layer.
I made a mistake
U goes back, as many times as you like. Trims, deletions and arrays all come back.
A DWG will not open
Asking the sender for a DXF is the sure way (every CAD program can write one). On the Mac version, typing brew install libredwg in Terminal brings in the translator and they will open.
A PDF will not open
- A scanned (image) PDF has no line coordinates and cannot be brought in.
- A PDF whose author forbade copying, and a PDF with a password, are deliberately not opened: we respect the rights and the lock.
I want to know more
- ? (the Command List) = the roster. This manual = the reading.
- 免責 (Disclaimer): type 免責 in the Command Line to read it again at any time.
- Settings = the cog on the ribbon. The protractor and the prompts are switched on and off here too.
Colophon: about this tool
- The author is Hiroki Okazawa. The specification, the screens and the decisions about how it works are the author's; the implementation (the coding) is done by an AI (Anthropic's Claude, known here as Kurodo).
- The drawing font 機械彫刻 (Kikai Chokoku) is “f.k Kikai Chokoku” (https://font.kim), made by Kim (Mr Kimura). We wrote to the author in September 2026 and include it with his kind permission. Thank you, Mr Kimura. It reproduces the JIS standard lettering for engraving machines; it is not a JIS-certified font.
- “BIZ UDGothic” and “BIZ UDMincho” are typefaces by Morisawa Inc., included here under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (they are the ones published on Google Fonts).
- The standard, light and bold faces are M+ FONTS (M+ FONT LICENSE).
- The same is written in the disclaimer you saw when you first opened the program (type 免責 in the Command Line).
- Please send problems and requests to info@engawaya.com.
